We will have our annual Scholastic book fair December 4, 5 and 6. A letter was sent home last week explaining the event. If there are any questions please ask Maria Sebastiani (Vanessa’s mom) or myself. There will be special events going on during the book fair. More information will be sent home this week.

Clifford: Students will take turns bringing a book (from the classroom library) about Clifford and Clifford home this month. A journal is also sent along for you to take a picture of your child with Clifford (it’s ok if you do not have the photo available the following day) and write about the exciting adventures with Clifford. Photos can be emailed to me and I can print them out. I know the children are not writing on their own yet, but writing their words for them is a great way to introduce the written word. We will be drawing a name each day. Please remember to bring Clifford and the journal back to school the following day.

Give Thanks

The Kindergarten retreat today was great! Ms Ciccarello did an amazing job of organizing the day.  The students had a great time!

The theme of the retreat was “giving thanks”.  Students drew pictures, heard stories, sang, danced, took a walk and looked for things we are thankful for, make friendship necklaces and told our friends why we are thankful for them.

Enjoy the pictures!

Halloween Candy Grams

The student council is selling candy grams during lunch time. They are $0.25 each. Students can purchase the grams and have them sent to anyone in the school. The student council will pass them out to the students on Friday.

All Saints Day

All students in Pre-School, Kindergarten, First, Second and Third grade will dress up as their patron saint. The students will be given their saint names on Monday. We request that each child wear their Halloween costume to school and bring their saints costume. Before the saints parade, eighth grade students will help the students change into their saint’s costume. Every student is expected to be a part of the activity however it is not necessary for you to purchase expensive items. You are encouraged to be creative and use items that you already have at home. (Suggestion for a saint costume: an angel costume)

This is a fun activity and we welcome the parents to come and watch the younger students parade around the school yard dressed as their patron saint.

The parade will begin at 10:00 A.M. Dismissal will be at the usual time, 12:30.

Last year’s Halloween costumes and Saints day costumes have been posted to provide ideas.

Don’t forget your cameras!

Halloween

Students are to wear their Halloween costume to school. Every student is expected to be a part of this activity: however it is not necessary for you to purchase expensive items. Costumes should be in good taste, meaning no weapons, masks, graphic violence, immodest dress or inappropriate slogans. After the saints parade, the students will change back into their Halloween costumes. The eight graders will again help the students change into their costumes.

Students are welcome to bring in treats for their classmates. We will pass them out after the Saints Parade. There are 24 students in the classroom. Please be sure to have enough treats for each student.

Don’t forget your cameras!

Schedule:

8:00 Halloween costume parade

8:30 classroom activities

9:00 snack/recess
