SPELLING TEST: The spelling words for this week are: she, good, they, what, this, you, down, up, are, here.
Please look over the practice test your child is bringing home on Monday. It is important for each student to learn the high frequency words we learn each week. It is important to your child’s reading success. Learning to read is a lot of work. If children have to sound out every word, it becomes so laborious and slow that children might want to give up, or if not, they will have a difficult time comprehending what they are reading. Many words that are used frequently are non decodable (impossible to sound out), so they must be learned by sight. Learning high frequency words by sight, helps children build confidence and fluency in their reading, and thus reading becomes easier and makes more sense.

GRADUATION: I can’t believe we have one more month left in Kindergarten! In preparation for our graduation, our room mom, Missy, is planning a brunch reception immediately after the ceremony. We need some donations to pay for the students’ graduation caps, decorations and food. If anyone has volunteer hours they would like to complete, $10 equals 1 hour of service. If you are interested in helping, please put the money in an envelope and send in your child’s folder. I’ll make sure to get it to Missy. The students are slowing starting to practice for the graduation. It will be on Tuesday, June 19 in O’Ryan Hall.
