Dr. Seuss’s birthday.

To celebrate, we will do something fun and different each day. The students are also invited to bring in their own Dr. Seuss books from home.

Top Hat Tuesday: Students can wear a crazy hat to school. We will also make the hat from Cat in the Hat.

Wacky Wednesday: Students can wear wacky socks to school. At the end of the day, we will relax with our shoes off and read Dr. Seuss books. We will also be make a Horton puppet. I will need the students to bring in 1 pair of (clean) socks.

Theodore Thursday with Third Grade: We will learn about Theodor Seuss Geisel and buddy read/make a craft with the 3rd grade class.

Fun Friday: We will have a fun day and make oobleck. Oobleck is a non-newtonian fluid. That is, it acts like a liquid when being poured, but like a solid when a force is acting on it. You can grab it and then it will ooze out of your hands. Oobleck gets its name from the Dr. Seuss book Bartholomew and the Oobleck where a gooey green substance, Oobleck, fell from the sky and wreaked havoc in the kingdom.

TUESDAY (2/28):

Field Trip:

We will be going on a Kindergarten field trip on Tuesday, February 28th. We will be going to the Beverly Hills Library and then walking across the street to visit the Fire House. We will be leaving school at 8:30am. The library will be open for us at 9am (they open for the public at 10am). Students will learn about the library, hear a story, and get a chance to get their own library cards and check out books. After visiting the library, the students will eat their snacks and then head over to the fire house. We will need parents (need to be VIRTUS trained) to drive the students. If you cannot drive, please send your child to school with their booster seat. Parents can park in the parking lot behind the school across the alley where the teachers park. Park along the apartment building at the south side of the parking lot. Make sure the teachers are not blocked (the teacher park at the end of the lot) and that the gate is not blocked. After the morning assembly, we will go the classroom to unpack out backpacks, get a snack and assign students to parents. Students are to wear their uniforms. No spirit dress.

Lead Day: To celebrate Leap day, we will have Leap to your feet and dance! Throughout the day, music will play throughout the school and the students will get to get up and dance.
