Catholic Schools Celebrate Service

2009 is the 36th annual Catholic Schools Week

 

This week we will be celebrating Catholic Schools Week.  It will start tomorrow.Families are encouraged to attend the 12pm mass at Good Shepherd Church.  There will be an open house at the Good Shepherd Parish.  Each class will have a table displaying different things we learn in each grade.  Everyone at the church is encouraged to come by and see all the great things that are being learned at Good Shepherd School.  The teachers will have the displays up for the 8:30, 10:30 and 12:00 mass.  However, I will be teaching Sunday School that day and will not be at the church until the 12:00 mass.  I hope to see you all there!      

Below is the schedule for Catholic Schools week.  There is A LOT of events scheduled for the week.  I will try to update information and pictures as quickly as possible during the week.  The morning assembly will be at 10am everyday this week.  The students will line up outside when the bell rings at 7:55 and will immediately be taken to the classroom.  

SUNDAY, JANUARY 25, 2009: Catholic Schools Celebrate Service in our Parish 

Parish Masses, Saturday at 5:30 PM and Sunday at 8:30 and 10:30 AM, 12:00 and 5:30 PM 

Students and their parents will participate with the readings, in the offertory procession and as ushers 

Students and parents will speak at all the Masses  

Parishioner “Open House” at the Parish Hall after the Sunday morning Masses 

 MONDAY, JANUARY 26, 2009 :Catholic Schools Celebrate Service in our Community 

Door knob hangers with greetings from our school will be distributed to local apartments by parent volunteers 

Community members will be invited to visit the school

Community helpers will come and speak in the classrooms 

TUESDAY, JANUARY 27, 2009 : Catholic Schools Celebrate Service for our Students 

Students will have NO HOMEWORK 

Students will have “ Free dress “ 

“Buddy Classes”  will play together and have a treat at 2:15 PM 

All students will participate in a service project 

 WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 28, 2009: Catholic Schools Celebrate Service for our Parents 

Coffee and pastries will be available at drop off in the morning for parents 

Cards of appreciation will be given to parents from their children 

School Open House with Art Show and Science Fair from 5:30 – 7:00 PM (open to current and new 

families) 

THURSDAY, JANUARY 29, 2009 : Catholic Schools Celebrate Service in our Nation 

Students will wear red, white and blue (no other colors allowed) 

Patriotic songs and historic facts will be given over the P.A. throughout the day 

Classroom patriotic activity and parade at end of the day – 2:30 PM 

Presentation by the Environmental Defenders

 FRIDAY, JANUARY 30, 2009 : Catholic Schools Celebrate Service for our Faculty and Staff  

Student winners from Thanksgiving Drive will be Teachers and Principal for a Day 

Faculty and staff will be served lunch by Student Council 

Grades 5-8 will be Ruddy’s helpers for “Give Ruddy a break today!”
