The Pre-School through 2nd grade classes will be going on a field trip to the Los Angeles Zoo on Tuesday, April 30, 2008. Permission slips must be turned in tomorrow. I will be needing parent volunteers to chaperone the day. Please let me know first thing in the morning if you would like to volunteer. However, due to bus limitations, all chaperones must provide their own transportation to the Zoo. I will also need a parent volunteer before we leave school to help me collect permission slips and make photo copies of these.

Please make sure your child has his/her permission slip and a sack lunch. Students will also be allowed to wear their spirit uniform.

We will travel to Griffith Park. We will meet parent chaperones near the little train station, called

Griffith Park & Southern Railroad
4400 Crystal Springs Drive (Near Los Feliz & Riverside)
Los Angeles, CA 90027

This week will be our last week of naps. I will be sending their sleeping mats home this Thursday.

This Friday, we will have “Quarter Mania” in anticipation for our May service learning project. Each class will be collecting quarters this week. On Friday, each class will line up all the quarters they have collected and we will see which class has the longest line of quarters.

Next Saturday, some of our second graders will be receiving the Sacrament of First Holy Communion. Please keep them in your prayers!

Progress reports were mailed home on Friday. Please note that the progress report shows expected development at this time and does not give a grade. If you would like to talk with me about your child’s performance, please schedule an appointment to meet with me. These progress reports need to be signed and returned.

I will again be sending home two math addition worksheets for your child to practice with at home. We are continuing to do these worksheets in class and helping your child memorize their addition facts. These do not need to be sent back to school.

Math: Complete and return daily math worksheets and work on the math addition worksheets.

Handwriting: Tuesday-Qq, Wednesday-Rr, Thursday-Ss, Friday-Tt

Next Monday: Turn in handwriting homework.
